Ray's biggest career regrets involve his early success and not recognizing his products' potential. Ray sold most of his products to industry leaders associated with large Venture Capital partners. In hindsight Ray wished he knew more about Financing and venture capital at an earlier age. Two products were developed, rebranded, and each raised over $300 million from venture capitalists. A leading AI text-to-speech company was sold for over $528 million to a European firm through Goldman Sachs. This transaction occurred before the discovery of taxation and revenue fraud, which was like breaches that led to the closure of Enron. Dropping Stock from over $60 per share to under $6 overnight. Upon bankruptcy Microsoft acquired the products intellectual property. Microsoft still markets the product and utilizes core concepts to offer their newest AI suites.

Although Ray does not take all the credit for his early success, he does take ownership of his failure and lack of knowledge to capitalize on his companies intellectual property. Ray acknowledges the strength of his team in designing well-conceived concepts. Notably, two of the products developed under his leadership were subsequently acquired by Microsoft.
